QUESTION & ANSWER

MES vs. ERP System Difference

ERP is responsible for managing the resources of the enterprise, including orders, procurement, inventory, plans and finances, and MES is responsible for the execution of work orders, dispatch of workers, quality, work in progress and retroactiveity at the production site. ERP answers what is planned to produce, what resources are needed, and MES records how the actual production and what is taking place at the site.

Answer the question.

First, give conclusions that can be used for decision-making

The ERP is not a substitute for complex on-site execution, nor is MES responsible for complete financial accounting. An enterprise with simple processes and transparent production processes may first use the ERP production module; MES values are more obvious when it is multi-processed, highly retroactive, high-quality or requires equipment connection.

DECISION FACTORS

What conditions need to be identified before judgement is made?

The same question may have different answers under different business, data and project phases. It is suggested that the following conditions be checked and that the common findings on the web be incorporated into their own projects.

Whether production has multiple processes, products in progress and real-time progress requirementsWhether batches, serial numbers and quality are relevant retroactivelyWhether ERP production modules cover on-site operations and anomaliesHow equipment, WMS, QMS and process data need to be connected
ACTION STEPS

Suggested order of advance

01

First, we'll be clear about the target and the border.

Recovery of the actual process from sales orders to completion of the warehouse.

02

Validation Key Dependence

Marks the data backbone of the ERP plan and MES executive levels.

03

Development of assessable outcomes

Select a production line to verify the work list, the reporter, quality and traceability.

04

Make sure you decide the next step with the real results.

The reconciliations are followed by more products and production lines.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

How do you understand it in the actual business?

Example used to illustrate the method of judgement

The ERP produces the production forms, which are then documented on-site on paper and poor work processes, and the management can only see the results when they are completed. MES may take over the job, report, quality and retroactive, and the quantity of the work done is then rewritten, but the procurement and finance are still managed by ERP. The examples do not represent the performance of a particular client, and the actual conclusions need to be verified in conjunction with the enterprise’s own business volume, sample, system and liability boundaries.

COMMON RISKS

The easiest pit to step on.

Thinks after the M.S., we can cancel the ERP.

Same worksheet status modified by two systems at random

First, we're developing a lot of panels, but we don't have reliable field data.

ACCEPTANCE

How should we end up receiving and confirming?

Check the ERP issuances, MES execution, receipt, reporting, inspection, return and completion of the inventory using a genuine work sheet to verify the recovery of duplicates, overtime, equipment offline and quantity differences.

When preparing to communicate with suppliers or internal teams, it is recommended that current processes, representative samples, existing systems, planning time and budget levels be brought. First, the unknown items are clearly marked, and then the decision is made to use diagnostics, PoC, fixed-range projects or ongoing research and development, which is usually more reliable than a direct demand for a price and duration without borders.

Your project conditions are different from the examples above?

Operational objectives, existing systems, sample and planned time could be collated before consultants could make preliminary judgements in relation to actual boundaries.
